This 3-month package is meant to help you find and develop a bridge connecting your daily, sustainable writing habits to specific writing outcomes. Perhaps you want to write a non-fiction essay or a magazine article. We will (roughly) use the first 6 weeks to establish and/or shore up your daily writing habits and move when ready (this varies by writer and project) into adding the developmental coaching and editing required to brainstorm and begin drafting your specific writing product.

In the developmental stages, drafts of writing can be shared , drafts of writing can be shared 2 days in advance of meetings for feedback, written and in person during weekly meetings. This feedback is strictly conceptual in orientation and not copy editing (ie, grammar) oriented. Our goal in the second six weeks is to start bringing emerging ideas into being. We will consider form, tone, and style consistent with your writing goals and audience. As we define your ideas in the context of the product, we will continue to revise and tweak your daily writing routines to best support your ongoing writing goals and projects.

FIND + DEFINE will also come with access to a curated list of resources to nurture your experimentation with sustainable writing habits and to grow the set of techniques you bring to your own writing practice in the find and define stages of writing.

Frequently asked questions

I work with a variety of writers, including emerging writers; those wanting to build a sustainable and enjoyable writing practice; professionals; and academic writers and researchers.

Absolutely. In fact, this is one of my favorite kinds of writers! Years of experience as an expat have taught me the courage EAL writers muster every day, and my years of teaching advanced EAL academic writing helps me hone in on the strategic changes each writer can make to make the biggest inroads on learning to quickly refine and polish their own academic English writing.

I am so glad you asked! I, myself, write humanities-oriented research in the social science-dominant field of Education. I know (and love) Chicago style, but also know APA and MLA extremely well.

This is a phenomenon not uncommon to most writers! Whether it be time away, busy-ness in other aspects of life, or changing directions entirely, writers evolve and change. That’s a good thing! Yes, we can “find” your way through and into writing again.
